I allow autodelete on my podcasts so that all those with playcount of 1 get deleted when podcasts are refreshed. But iTunes keeps forgetting this setting and I have to right-click the podcasts and select this setting every few days (for some podcast subscriptions).
How do I make iTunes remember this setting for my subscribed podcasts?

Organizing Files by Track Number ...
Hi. I am organizing classical music. Whenever I have recordings of the same piece by different artists, I like to put them all in the same folder (example Bach: Goldberg Variations folder contains performances of at least 5 pianists).
Problem is when I burn a disc, then add it to that folder, the tracks don't stay together but get all jumbled according to waht # they were on the CD. I select them and label them all as coming from different discs (Disc 1, Disc 2 etc) but that doesn't seem to sort them out. Any other way to do this?

iTunes 9.0 audio cuts in and out ...
Installed iTunes 9.0 recently and haven't noticed this problem before but when browsing on the web, navigating directories within the hard drive, etc., the audio cuts out briefly intermittently.
I thought this might have to do with running too many programs at once with 4GB of RAM but even if I scale back on programs running, I do not notice any difference. I recently installed Norton 360 and thought that might have something to do with it but not sure.
I don't notice the audio cut out like that anywhere else.
Anybody else notice this?

I downloaded the new itunes a few days ago and since then can't connect to the store. This is really frustrating and I've followed the troubleshooting steps in the support section but it still isn't working. Is anyone have similar problems or knows how to fix this?

made an error moving iTunes Music and ...
In August when I had to re-install iTunes, motherboard melt down, I thought I'd transferred iTunes Music back to the F drive, where I keep my media library, correctly.
All downloads installed there and when I clicked Add Folder from my backup drive it installed without incident so everything was correct, or so I thought.
Today I got around to doing a backup with Synctoy and found out I was wrong.
The movies, music, etc. are all on F but they're not in a folder!
So Synctoy returns : error could not read from the source file system volume information.\access is denied.
The solution should be to create a folder on F for all the files, about 500 GB, but how do I do this and still keep the path for iTunes to follow?
Given that error the backup is not reliable even though Synctoy did, apparently, do a full back up anyway.

It would increase your battery life so much if iTunes would have an option to "Not battery charging". After all, it's highly recommended not to charge a already charged battery.

Every time i place a music cd in the dvd rom and it starts to load

Itunes 9 Crashing ...
I downloaded the new itunes a couple of days ago with no problems, now today it just keeps crashing. Is anyone else having this problem? I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling the program but it doesn't fix the problem. I have never had this problem before this is really frustrating!

I am using iTunes 9 on Windows Vista 64-bit to transfer music to my 1st gen iPod Touch but every time I transfer anything, iTunes hangs after it transfers everything. It doesn't matter if I am transferring 1 song or 100 songs, it transfers everything over, the message changes to "Syncing iPod" and that's where it dies. This has been happening for several months across several versions of iTunes. I have reinstalled iTunes, reset my iPod to factory and started fresh, nothing seems to fix it. Cannot edit/delete a certain song ...
Apparently I imported a song in iTunes (9) that is write protected. I cannot edit any field (they are all greyed out when i use GET INFO), nor can I add art work (message: ArtWork Not Modifiable) and not even delete the song.
When I look on my harddisk for the file to which it is linked, I CAN delete that file, the song in iTunes then gets a ! mark to show there is no file linked, but even THEN i cannot delete the song entry.
How come?

This isn't directly related to iTunes, but to music in general. One thing I've always wondered was if sound cards really make a difference in music qualities?
considering you have FLAC (or WAV) files, and top notch speakers. Would going from a soundcard from 2 years ago to one from this year make any noticeable difference for listening to music (not recording)?
Do audio programs and games even take advantage of new features on soundcards?
If I'd like to improve my listening experience, would going with better speakers be the way to go? What are the bottlenecks besides the audio tracks themselves being encoded at a low quality?

Hello!
Is anyone having problems with iTunes v9?
Have PC, Pentium D 2.8, 3Gb Ram, Radeon 128Mb video card, 2 250Gb HDD!
Was using iTunes 8.x which ran well.
AFTER installing iTunes v9, iTunes will appear then .... FROZEN!!!
Must hit Ctr-Alt-Del to shut down program!
What the heck is happening???

I installed brand new iTunes 9 and created a new smart playlist. I want tracks there to be arranged by adding date, so as usually, I clicked on an arrow in the bottom of column "date added". In iTunes the tracks were arranged, but when I syned it with my iPhone, there they were arranged by artist!
Is it an itunes issue or do I do smthing wrong???

Home Share on One Computer with Two ...
We have one computer in our house with two user accounts. I have an iTunes account and my husband has his own. Due to many moved music files and whatnot, it is very annoying and difficult to try to find songs from his library to add to mine using the Add File (or Folder) to Library link in the iTunes file menu. I am unable to access some of the songs currently in my library because he moved some of his files and my iTunes can't locate them any longer. I was hoping Home Share would solve our problem, but can't get it to work. Is it hopeless for me because we technically only have one computer? Is there an easier way for me to add some of his songs to my library without searching through our five or six different iTunes library folders on multiple hard drives?
We have both enabled Home Share on our individual user accounts, but do not have the Home Share icon appearing in our iTunes side bar.

I am trying to remove iTunes 8.1.1.10 from my computer through the "Add or Remove" program, but I get a message stating, "The feature you are tyring to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi'..."
I don't have the installation package, and I did a search on my computer but couldn't find "iTunes.msi".
Can anyone provide assistance?

ITunes Home Sharing ...
We have Itunes and two separate computers. Both computers have authorization for home sharing. He has been able to successfully go in and copy any and all songs from my library to his computer, but I have been experiencing sporadic success. If I select a block of songs to share to my computer...I will get 29 out of 30 songs copied over to my library. I have several selections that will not copy at all. I have even tried going in and doing one by one on the selections that will not copy at all, and have been unsuccessful.
I would appreciate any and all advice on how to remedy this. We have our pc's set up the same way, so we don't believe it's a configuration issue on the pc's.

I am getting the error:
iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (-9812). Make sure your network connection is active and try again.
I have tried the fix posted in article TA23179 (which points to a Microsoft article) (tried all the suggestions listed at Microsoft, tried the reboot of cable modem and router, and all the suggestions in discussion thread, turned off firewall.)
Nothing works. I still get this error any advice?

After downloading and installing iTunes 9, I now cannot add songs to my Touch.
I tried using MediaMonkey also, and neither one work. It looks like it is, but then an alert comes up that says "Device Timed Out" - my Touch says "Sync in Progress", but has said that for about 10 minutes now. What can I do?

itunes 9 won't play the rented movies ...
Since I downloaded itunes 9,I can't play any movies I rent nor am I able to play trailers.I would hear the sounds and the voices but no image at all, just a grey screen. I was suggested to reinstall itunes 9, reinstall quicktime alone, adjust my screen resolution and some other adjustments but nothing seems to be working. Is anybody experiencing a similar problem?
Ps: My hardware is a sony viao and itunes has been working fine until I switch to version 9.

duplicate movie problem ...
I just recently had to reinstall itunes
after I drag and dropped my movies bought from itunes back into the library it many copies of some movies until I stopped it because I found it was coping them to another folder and now I have duplicates like Independence Day.m4v and Independence Day1.m4v and I removed the duplicates from itunes but the duplicate files are still taking up hard drive space and windows vista won't let me delete them

Podcasts won't combine into one album. ...
Ever since I upgraded to 9.0.0.70 some of my Podcasts (not all of them) will not combine (append) into the original Podcast album. As I download a new issue, each new Podcast issue creates an ablum of its own. I can't seem to get them to combine into one album - the original album. Why is this happening? How can I combine the new issues into the original album?

So despite all of the new iTunes being extremely annoying and a major inconvenience to me, the only thing I can't live with is the fact that instead of saying iTunes at the top (where you'd usually see the name of the program) it now says "Previous iTunes Library." Alright I've upgraded to itunes 9 an I've had nothing but problems.. I could use some help. I've tried to change my billing address a dozen times, yet every time I change it apple tells me my zip code is wrong an it needs to be 4 digits long.. Question is where in the **** in the United states is there a 4 digit zip code?? Second question I'm trying to setup the home sharing feature however it says my computer is not authorized for use. I have an ipod and an iphone. The ipod has around 10,000 songs on it. I would like to put music on the iphone but with a different bit rate. That isn't a problem, however when I want to update the ipod how can I have it ignore the songs that I want on the iphone. Is there a way to de-select songs in groups of hundreds (or more) or do I have to click on each one to de-select? Can I make master play-lists that have other play-lists inside of them? (Like folders

Can you please help me with Home ...
Home sharing is enabled for my desktop (Windows XP) and my laptop (Vista). my desktop has a wireless router and the laptop is connected to the wireless network. I am using the same account and both machines are active at the same time. On both machines, when I turn on Home Sharing, Itunes asks me to log in. I do so and then click "done". Right after clicking done, the Sharing section on the navigation bar goes away and I cannot see the other machine's itunes. Thanks for your help!

What is the next step in moving iTunes ...
I am moving my iTunes from an XP pc to a new Vista pc. I have copied the iTunes folder to an external HD. Now what do I do next?
Do I copy iTunes folder to the Music Folder on the new pc or do I download the iTunes application from Apple first then copy the iTunes folder to the new pc?
Also the XP pc is using iTunes 8 can I still download that version from Apple or somewhere so that the versions will match?
Any other thought on making this go smoothly would be great. Thanks, Robert

Shopping Cart obliterated without ...
Is there any way you can help me? Is there anyway a text list of some kind of what was in my shopping cart can be retrieved and emailed to me? This is a major business mistake and a bad decision by Apple.
I am completely saddened and angry. I upgraded to Itunes 9.0 and there was absolutely NO (zero) warning that by doing so I would lose contents of my "shopping cart". I am a good ITunes customer and I have literally spent many hours scouring your service for songs and albums I wished to buy when I could afford to. My shopping cart contained about 5 dozen songs and albums I have intended to purchase when I had the means. Now without warning this shopping cart list has been obliterated with no forewarning to me from Apple when I upgraded to ITunes 9. iTunes will not play back select songs ...
I recently downloaded iTunes 9 and it seems to be working all right so far. My only problem is that there are certain songs in my library that will not play. They won't play when clicked on and are skipped over when part of a playlist. These songs have played with previous versions of iTunes, although the problem has persisted since one of the last updates for iTunes 8 (not sure exactly which).
The only thing these songs have in common are that they are singular additions, not ones I've added from the Store or a complete CD. And there are other songs that are singular additions, not from the Store or complete CD, that will still play. As far as I can tell, the vast majority of these are in mp3 format.

Upgraded to iTunes 9 and it worked for three days. Now when I open it, it says "waiting for apple to deliver your genius results" and freezes after about 20 seconds. can't even close it. I've removed the program and reinstalled several times and it still freezes. How do I fix this, please.

The musics are not duplicated but if I have 3 musics form the same album, when I visualize by album in the I-touch, it shows the album 3 times instead of 1.
Before, I used to see only one album and inside, 3 musics.

Hi everyone!
So my dearest laptop is broken and I cannot open itunes or do pretty much anything to be honest. I have just bought a netbook to tide me over for now, and need to get all my music on to the new itunes on the new netbook - only half of my music has been backed up elsewhere.
All the guides I've read telling you how to get music from your ipod back on to a new itunes involve using the OLD itunes, which in this case isn't an option.
Aside from wanting to have my music on my netbook (so that I can back it up properly next time!), I also want to be able to add new music to my ipd - but as I unde3rstand, if I were to sync new music from new itunes on to ipod, I would end up having to delete all 2000 tracks on ipod currently and start all over again?
Please, please, please can someone help me?

How to prevent podcasts in playlists ...
This isn't about the iPhone podcast-in-playlist syncing issues (although it may be related to underlying issues?). I'm almost 100% certain that it used to be the case that if I put a podcast episode in a playlist it acted the same as explicitly marking that podcast "do not auto-delete". As long as it was in a playlist, even if that podcast's settings about what episodes to keep would have chosen to remove it, it still stuck around.
This was a very convenient way for me to tag podcasts I wanted to listen to later -- I didn't have to right click and mark "Do Not Auto-Delete" and they'd all be in one playlist (that incidentally could also be synced to the iPhone) and I wouldn't have to manually mark them or look for them in the entire list of all podcasts' episodes. Now with iTunes 9 it seems that iTunes doesn't care if old podcasts are in a playlist -- it will delete them anyway.
Is there any way to revert to the previous behavior? I don't want to mark podcasts' settings Never Delete (especially things like Talk of the Nation which have multiple episodes per day -- I like that it will automatically clean up anything I haven't playlisted) and nor do I want to explicitly mark everything I want to keep "Do not auto-delete".

Itunes 9 movie issue ...
Been using Itunes (loaded on Win XP) with my ITouch for months with no problems. I downloaded ITunes 9 and now about half my movies doubled, meaning the movies shows back to back in one file doubling the length. Even if I open the movie from windows explore and play movie on Quicktime it does the same thing. This did not happen until I downloaded Itunes 9. Please help. Thanks.

Unable to Read and/or write "*" ...
The above is part of the error msg I get when trying to burn Disc #3 (after song #2) of my new box set of Richard Thompson tunes. So to be clear, it copied in the first two songs, started on the third, then stopped and displayed the error msg. I've tried burning each of the songs on this disc individually, and that won't work either. However, when I just play the songs, they play just fine. So I:
Tried going to my music folder, clicked on the folder the music was going into and checked permissions. Everything was fine, but I went ahead and did it all again anyway. Still get the error msg.
So I have opened Disc #3 in a folder on my desk and am now copying them into my hard drive (then I'll copy them into iTunes). It will seemingly take most of the rest of my life or 74 hours, whichever comes first! I have no idea if this will work, but it's about the only option that's occurring to me at the moment. I slipped another of my new discs in a few minutes ago, and it copied in just fine.

Then I connect the iphone to a usb port but nothing happened (PC recognise the new hardware, but iTune doesn t work). I tried to run iTunes 9 and it tooks 3-4 min to load it in my screen. Also itune can not connect to apple store or any internet site. I have both firewall and antivirus turned off but nothing. Any idea ? I m siting and looking my new iphone desperately.

I'm not even sure what I did. I have iTunes 9 and was about to click on my favorite radio station and all of a sudden, the category (Folk) is no longer there. (As in, it was there 5 minutes ago, and now it is not.) Restarting iTunes did not help. This particular station doesn't make it easy to add a URL manually and I would like to listen to it in iTunes rather than in my browser, so I'm not sure what I did or how to get it back?

I know that one can modify how the artists should be sort out, say how "The Beatles" will be displayed as such in the artists column while appearing at the letter "B" instead of "T". Fine, but I still have a few related issues.
You know that some bands actually begin as a solo album from one of their members. For example, I have the "Planet X" album by Derek Sherinian which can be considered as the first album from his band "Planet X". I like the idea that this kind of records could be found under the band name and not the solo artist. So I simply tagged "Planet X" in the "artist for sorting out" info category and it works as intended. However, in other cases, it does not work.
For example I have this "Ambeon" record which is really related to "Ayreon" (Ambeon tracks are ambient variations on Ayreon music). I would like it to be found under the band name "Ayreon". However, when I tagged it "Ayreon" in exactly the same way that I tagged "Planet X" for the Derek Sherinian album, the outcome was different. It worked the wrong way. All Ayreon music is now listed under the "Ambeon" name. At the same time, the alphabetical sorting recognizes it as "Ayreon". So I can see Ambeon listed after "At Vance" or "Artension".

I am hoping that somebody in marketing or sales can tell me if the partnership of the affiliate is real.
They are using the iTunes logo and were listed in an article on Cnn.Money so I am thinking it is real but hoping that someone from iTunes can classify.
It appears to be a large Affiliate marketer but I was not aware that companies did that on this scale.

In the iTunes 9, I can't find where it shows that a song is available for a ringtone. Then, when I went into my library and set it to show ringtone availability in my library, it still doesn't show it...it has the icon for the column that should show the ringtones, but it won't show which songs are.
I tried a song that I had bought a while back to see if I could make it into a ringtone (my friend has it as her ringtone), and it came up with the slice the song to where you want the ringtone to be thing, but the icon didn't come up to show that it was available for ringtone then, either, or for any other song.

Itunes, Windows, Airport Express and ...
I have sucessfully connected Airport Express to play itunes on my stereo. I am using the FIOS supplies Actiontek M1424WR router. The problem is that when I allow Itunes to play a list or randomly select, it is fine. Without exception, though if I click on a tune listen briefly, click on another etc. after about 4 tunes Itunes freezes. Sometimes it will freeze if I pause a tune. I realize there is a lag in getting the tunes as I am using a library on a shared drive from a desktopcomputer. I am controlling Itunes from a wireless laptop and instruct it to load that library. In other words I am not accessing a shared library. I tried putting the itunes library on an NAS with the same results. I was wondering if the Actiontek is causing an issue. I am not sure that the AE is causing this since it does the same thing when I change to the computer speakers or unplug the AE. Yet, if I use Airfoil, there is no problem at all, and frankly it is looking better by the minute. Does anyone have any ideas? Much appreciated.

iTunes Disc No. Bug..or? ...

I just updated my iTunes to the new 9.0, but it seems that the new iTunes ignores the disc no. tag, so when I want to listen to a full double-cd album, it starts with the no. 1 song from disc 1 and then no. 1 from disc 2, instead of 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on, until it reaches disc 2 and starts from the beginning of disc 2 then.
I apologize for my confusing description, I hope it makes sense, but I doubt I'm the only one in with this issue. Is there any way to fix this? Or do I have to wait for a new update?

Do iTunes movie rentals work on video ...
I just rented and downloaded Gran Torino. I hooked my 80Gb iPod up to the computer and tried to drag the movie from my Rented Movies tab of my Library to my iPod, but it won't transfer.
I googled this and was able to find links talking about the video iPod not being compatible with iTunes Movie Rentals (what?!) but they were all links from 2008. I figured Apple would be smart enough to fix this by now, but I'm not sure how to do it, if it's possible.
Any ideas? Thanks!
