New playlist bug in iTunes 9.0.2.25? ...
I upgraded to iTunes 9.0.2.25 last night and all seemed well, however I left my iPod syncing and awoke to find most of the content had been removed. Like many people I use a number of Smart Playlists to organise my library and control what goes on my iPod. I have one main playlist (let's call it A) with all the stuff that I might put on my iPod, and another with all the stuff that I want to exclude for now (call this B). These are joined into a final playlist which is All in A but not in B. This scheme has worked well for quite some time, but with the new build this particular playlist is no longer displayed on the sync tab! If I remove the not in B condition the playlist appears once again. I can copy the resulting Smart Playlist into a static one and sync that, but that's hardly an ideal solution. The weird thing is that I have the same setup for three other playlists for my childrens' iPods which still show up on the sync tab. It's just mine that is mysteriously absent. I haven't had time to compare the playlists one by one to see if any others are missing, but has anyone else noticed playlists vanishing from their sync tabs or any insight as to what might trigger it?

Well i have read all the post on this forum that concerns genius and it working with no luck. My only solution is that it only work for music purchase from itune store if your collection of mp3 is not from itune it just doesn't work!!. I am new to itune and i tried every solutions on this forum and i even turned off my firewall as suggested by someone on this forum I think he was a itune employee to boot???.
2)option: Would be to uninstall Itune all together and find a alternative player???.
There must be a solution to this but what.

Movies and TV shows won't play in ...
I've only noticed this recently, but whenever I try to play any TV show or Movie in the new iTunes (I have 9.0.1.8), I'm confronted with a black Now Playing screen, and then (more often than not) iTunes or Quicktime crash.
I've tried re-installing both of them (and made sure to restart my computer after each), but to no avail. This is a very recent problem, as I was able to watch everything as recently as the 28th of September. Currently, they only work if I play them on my iPod.
Podcasts still work, however, even H.264 video ones. It's just that anything in the TV or Movie section refuses to.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to rectify this?

Howdy.
Just downloaded the upgrade to iTunes on both my computers. My music is stored on my G4, as it has a larger HDD, but we mostly listen to music on a vista laptop, using library sharing. When I connect to the mac's shared library the column browser always defaults to a long list of artists down the side, instead of the more useful three column job across the top.
As it loses its connection a bit too often anyway, it gets really annoying very quickly, and I just want it to remember what I told it to do!
any ideas?

I am unable to sync my Outlook calendar to my Ipod using iTUNES. My contacts sync just fine but iTUNES does not see any calendars to sync with. Where does iTUNES look to find the calendar? Perhaps it is not in it's usual location and iTUNES does not search for it. If I knew where iTUNES expects to find the calendar, I can correct the problem.

I have just installed Windows 7 and during that process re-formatted the disk.

I'm new to the iphone. Never used an ipod before because iTunes always bothered me. But I love my iphone, best gadget/device I've ever purchased.
That said, it looks like my qualms with iTunes were not unfounded, at least for me. So here I am, with my iPhone typically sync'd with my home computer. I'm sitting at work with my laptop, and want to add some stuff from my laptop onto my phone. I go into iTunes on the laptop, attempt to add the stuff, and get:
"An iphone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library".
Are you freaking kidding me? I don't want to sync the whole library, I just want to add a few individual things from this computer onto my phone. In all honesty, this has got to be the most ridiculous design flaw I've EVER come across.

can't burn cds using Itunes 9: error ...
I have installed the latest version of Itunes and I can't burn cds. I called dell and apple to figure out what's wrong and they both told me to go to the registry and delete upper and lower filters. They were already gone when I went to the reg. editor. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes several times and I was told that when I uploaded windows 7 the problem would go away, but it hasn't. Can someone help me fix this issue? I don't know if there is patch that can fix this or some type of software, but I am not computer savvy enough to play around with the registry without a lot of help and guidance.

Same songs keep getting copied every ...
Ever since I upgraded iTunes (9.0.1.8), every time I sync my iPod it copies the same 57 songs to my iPod. I haven't done anything to my playlist, library or those songs. I tried removing them and then adding them again, but the same songs keep showing up and being recopied. The really annying part is that everytime I want to listen to music it says "Updating Library ... this could take a few minutes" and it does! I sync every day ... and now I update my iPod library every day. Anyone else have this problem? I guess I could just delete these songs from my library, but I shouldn't have to do that.

Every time i go on itunes it has a white background and blue writing and no pictures just all in a long list. Every time i click on anything it says error 306. Wrong GB displayed for number of songs ...
I have an iPod mini and have always had about the same songs on my itunes and iPod. Ever since I recently updated my iTunes, it changed the number of total GB. I have always been able to fit these songs (958 songs) on my 4.0 GB iPod mini, but now iTunes says that the 958 songs are 6.67 GB, so they do not fit on my 4.0 GB iPod. Why did this suddenly change and can I fix it?

help! new to itunes, just put all my music from my pc on it and for some reason, most of my albums have come up duplicated with some tracks in one and the remaining tracks in another,

After upgrading to Windows 7, installing the current version of Kaspersky AV (2010) and current version of iTunes (9.0.1), iTunes seemed to work fine with one exception: I could no longer connect to my AirPort Express device from within iTunes. After upgrading to 9.0.2 (with official Windows 7 support) no change was noticed. Apple's wireless multimedia support group was absolutely worthless, taking no responsibility at all for troubleshooting the issue other than to reinstall iTunes. I did my own troubleshooting, and determined that Kaspersky AV's Web AntiVirus portion of their product was the culprit. I added iTunes.exe as a trusted application in the Threats and Exclusions section of the Options menu, checking the "scan network traffic" exclusion, and iTunes can now see the AirPort Express once again. According to Kaspersky, this exclusion will be added to the next signature update.

Itunes. when I bring up itunes on my desktop it loads no problem. speakers are on. when I click on a song the little microphone appears next to it but the song does not play and the timer box at the top stays on zero time(doesn't move across a song plays. iTunes v9 Stops Working Issues - any ...
Ever since I upgraded to iTunes v9 itunes crashes all the time witht he message that it stopped working error message. This is the 64 bit version as I run windows7 pro 64 bit. I ran windows 7 64bit ultimate RC1 and it did the same thing when I upgraded to v9. Version 8 ran like a champ and never crashed.
I was hoping today's patch fixed things but the first song I tried to pay crashed.
I deleted my entire libray, worked for a little bit it seemed then started crashing again. Deleted the library files, didn't help. Tried stopping Bonjour service that seems to work but itunes complaining on startup all the time is not a real fix. What's wrong with bonjour then....

I'm not sure if this is an error or how iTunes was intended to operate but I find it INCREDIBLY annoying.
If I perform a search and, say, 5 songs are returned I expect iTunes to play those 5 songs and STOP. Yet it does not do this - it just keeps playing the next song in my library that would normally follow the last song played, even though that song does NOT match my search, and is NOT displayed on screen.
This is ridiculous. iTunes continues playing songs that fall outside my search parameters - this is an awful logic hole.
How can I fix this? I keep waiting for each new version to correct this problem but it keeps going on. At this point I have to believe this is just more horrible and backwards apple-logic.

Copying individual songs from iTunes 9 ...
With previous versions of iTunes, I could simply drag and drop songs or groups of songs from my library to my iPhone.
I tried to do this with the latest version, but I am unable to do it. Am I missing something, or has this option be removed?

iTunes 9 Symlinks for Movies and TV ...
Hello Everyone
I've just got myself a laptop (Windows 7) and have set my old PC up as a windows home server (WHS) there is a share on the server called vidoes and in this share I have created two folders Movies and TV Shows.
On my laptop I created a new iTunes library, and created a symlink from ..\itunes media\movies to \\servername\videos\movies and the same with tv shows. This was done with the build in command 'mklink'
i.e. mklink /d .\itunes media\movies \\servername\videos\movies
I then imported my tv shows from a external hard drive into itunes, it copied the files correct via the symlink into the movies folder on the server.
Now those files need the info changed so that they are treated as TV shows not movies so i select the files | get info | and changed there type from Film to TV show, clicked ok.
The first file copied correctly, all the others failed. The synlink had been removed!
Has anyone got any idea why?

I am planning to purchase an iPod nano 5g and I have been using winamp for my music management.
But, due to the new release of the 5g, winamp cannot support it and I have to move my playlist to itunes 9.
So I tried to save a playlist file and import it to itunes but only 25 out of 315 album covers showed up.
My question is, how do I move my entire playlist and their album art to itunes without having to redefine each album?

My computer has 2 OS installed: Windows XP and Windows 7. As Windows 7 has been installed after XP, my iTunes library is created and stored on the XP version, thus to sync my iPod and to make purchases in iTunes I need to reboot my computer and log in through XP. Is there any way the two OSes can share the library so I don't have to restart to sync/purchase/listen to music? My music is scattered all over my hard drives so it'll be a pain having to collect it up again.

I'm periodically getting an error message in iTunes 9.0.1.8 for Windows (Windows 7 64bit):
"The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
As far as I can tell looking at the security settings for the folder where the iTunes library is saved, I DO have full access privileges. In fact, the last modified date for the iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files is just a few minutes ago.
Also, I don't notice anything going wrong within iTunes, just these periodic, annoying errors. I could just check the "don't show this error again" box but I'd rather fix whatever is wrong.
Anyone have any clue what is going on here?

After updating to 9.0.2.25 I try to pin it to the taskbar by running itunes and right clicking the itunes icon in the taskbar that is no problem but while doing that I noticed that the icon is doesn't show up while running itunes it's a standard windows icon. After I pinned it to my task bar I closed itunes and tested it by clicking the windows icon and I get an Error prompt: Problem with Shortcut

I have dual monitors and like to have video in a seperate window on my 2nd monitor, so I usually put tv episodes in the seperate window so I can watch while working. In all other versions of itunes, I could adjust volume of the program or skip ahead a little (usually past the opening credits) right in the seperate window. Now with the new version, it will not let me do those things, I have to open up the main itunes window and adjust volume or skip ahead. This is kinda annoying. Anyone else have this issue or am I just the only one?

Compilations in Column Browser View ...
After loading over 100 albums onto iTunes I found a lot of artists where missing from the Artists column in Column Browser View. I subsequently found most of them listed under Compilations and a few in Various Artists. Many of the ones in Compilations are just Greatest Hits type albums with no real logic as to why they ended up there eg Disc 1 can be listed under the Artist and Disc 2 under Compilations.
I know I can go into individual tracks and untick a Compilations Box in Info but is there anyway I can do this as a batch process?

We have a shared computer with multiple users. I recently moved my iTunes library to an external hard drive and moved all my songs to a single folder. Another user created a unique iTunes Library under their user id and set up a separate library under that folder.

Iphone sync error 13019? ...
Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8.2 I've been having issues synching. It will copy photos, ringtones, etc, but at some point says that iTunes could not sync "Error 13019".
(reposting in the appropriate forum)
Searching resulted in nothing.
Now my playlists on the phone are wiped out, oddly enough the music is there, but it doesnt show up on the phone. If I connect it to iTunes, it shows the music and the playlists as being there.
I did a reinstall of iTunes and chose a restore from back up, neither has worked.
Anyone else run into this?

Discrepancy between VBR files in ITunes ...
I've noticed that all of my VBR mp3 files show different bitrates in iTunes 9.0.1.8 compared to Windows Explorer. For example, in Windows Explorer an mp3 file may be listed as 320kbps but in iTunes it shows up as 187kbps(VBR).
Can anyone help explain, in non-technical terms, why this is and how I can know what the correct bitrate is? Thanks

Can someone tell me how to burn a playlist to a CD and have the song titles burned as well?
All my CD's just say "Track 1", "Track 2", "Track 3", . . . I know it must be something simple but I can't find the answer anywhere.

Home Sharing not Sharing ...
I have home sharing enabled on 2 computers. On Computer 1 I can access Computer 2 but I can not do it the other way around. Both computers show up in the others shared computer bar on the left in the iTunes window. When computer 2 tries to access Computer 1 I get this error:
"The shared library "######" is not responding. (-3259) Check that any firewall software running on either shared computer or this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689"
I have checked and altered both firewalls and it is definitly set to not be blocked. Any suggestions?
I have tried restarts and such already

I have a dual boot Windows system, with three hard drives, one is my Windows XP install drive, one is the newly released Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit, and the third has all of my data files.
After I installed Win 7 and downloaded iTunes, I was able to install iTunes and it opens properly (unlike some folks that are having issues with the 64-bit version). The problem is that iTunes does not recognize my iTunes library. I've switched back to the XP installation and verified the path and that the library works. But when I go back into Win 7 and put in the path, nothing.
The only thing I can think of is that because of the way the dual boot system works, when I am in XP, the computer recognized my XP disk at the C:\, my Data Drive as the D:\ and the now Win 7 drive as the F:\. When in Windows 7, the Win 7 drive is mapped as the C:\, the XP Drive is the E:\ and the Data Drive is the Z:\. Could the xml file that stores the library information use absolute references as opposed to relative references? But this does not make sense. If I lost my OS but had a copy of the library, shouldn't I be able to copy the library back onto the hard drive and then simply point iTunes to it?
I burned several hours trying to solve this. Anyone with any thoughts?

problem using Windows 7 and Airtunes ...
Just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 and installed iTunes 9 and it recognizes my Airport Express (AE lit with a green light, and shows up in lower right of iTunes when choosing which speakers to play), but won't connect - just hangs on "Connecting to User's Airport Express". So unable to listen to my music through my hi-fi stereo.
Tried a few things: disabling firewall, unplugging, resetting AND reconfiguring the AE, no luck.

Transfered Music to new location but ...
Hi I just recently acquired i new hard drive because i filled up my 160 gb with all my music. Half my files were organized in folders and the other half were all individual music files. When i went to consolidate my library it found all my music in the folders, but it did not find my individual music files of which there are 11,000! Is there any way i can show itunes there location without having to find each individual file? I also do not want to lose any of my play counts, playlists or anything like that. Thanks, Scott.

Hi, I am a newbie and i hope someone will be able to answer this for me. I know that an account should be deaauthorised on a pc but in the last year for one reason or another i have had nearly 15 os crashes which in turn have left pcs technically still signed in with a computer acount against my login. I have deathorised all this year but am back in this ridiculous situation of not being able to authorise my new completley rebuilt PC. I've got tons of mp4 files I've collected and whenever I use itunes to convert them the output file has great audio but the video screen is just solid white. I get this same result playing them in itunes or on my iphone 3gs.

Reformated Computer Now no I tunes music ...
I just recently had to reformat my Sony Vaio laptop. Now that we are adding I Tunes back on (always been on this computer) my son's I pod says he is synced to another library and would we like to delete and what is on his current I pod. When I look at the history on our I Tunes account you can see all of our music we purchased.

choppy audio and video playback in ...
Since upgrading to itunes 9, experiencing very poor playback of songs and videos. Songs will stutter, videos freeze briefly then continue with audio out of sync with video. All of this is new since the upgrade. Tried to go back to older version and program wouldn't run b/c "library was created with newer version" of iTunes. Just shoot me. I'm sorry if this has already been asked / answered but a quick search did not pull anything up. After painstakingly adding artwork to every song in my library, it seems that iTunes is randomly deleting some of the art. It seems like everytime I load iTunes or sync my iPod Touch a few dozen songs have lost their artwork. It's very frustrating to have to go back, figure out which songs have been affected and retrieve the art again and again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SyncServer.exe locking up system ...
I'm running XP and itunes 9.0.1.8. Everything seems to run fine until it tries to sync to my ipod touch or download the latest ipod software. While watching the system processes window in Task Manager, you can see that as soon as SyncServer.exe starts up the CPU usage goes to 100% and nothing happens.
This never occurred before itunes 9.0. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Completing an album. ...
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but my "Complete my album" button isn't working. Whenever I click it, it says the item is being modified, and its very fustrating, when you can't finish it in the old version of iTunes 8 because it has the LP feature. I just hope that someone fixes that because I've been waiting a week (maybe even longer) to get that album.

I have a problem, but I suspect it is working as designed.
I have just moved all of my music from my PC to my QNAP 219P NAS that has been setup af iTunes server.
My problem is that my Library-Music list is now empty. And all my music is under Shared-NAS. But I can't see my album art and it isn't the default startup window when i start iTunes.
If I point Library-Music to my NAS, it will start copying the files to my local machine. And I just dont want all of my music on all of my PC's/MAC's.
I hope you can help me.

So I am thinking about buying an ipod nano because I can get one pretty cheap. I have a set of audio files that I have put into an album but there is no track number in the tags, so iTunes stores/plays in a random order. Transferring Music to another computer ...
Okay, I'm trying to help my brother out. He had a windows laptop running 2003 and he purchased 300 some odd songs from Itunes. He has a new computer that is running Windows vista and what we did was copied his music folder from the 2003 computer to an external hard drive. Hooked up the external hard drive to new computer, moved that folder to the desk top there. opened up Itunes, added those songs to his new Itunes library. Go to play those songs and says must authorize computer. Put in pass word etc...looks like its playing but no sound but can play and hear songs that we purchased on the new computer. It is only the ones we are transferring from the old computer that we have to authorize and the sound isnt there.

I purchased hundreds of songs on my work computer I got laid off and now I have no way to get my songs. Today I purchased an album on my home computer and noticed that the album was a little cheaper but because three of the 19 songs were "already purchased" however I don't have a copy of it at all.

iTunes is changing my iTunes Music ...

I will be reformatting my PC and installing Windows 7 Pro on it.
I currently have iTunes version 9 on my PC computer. How do I move my entire library to my newly formatted computer or any new PC computer for that matter?
I looked in the Apple support pages but I was a bit unclear in that it kept talking about moving itunes purchases. But I don't want to just move my iTunes purchases, I want to move my entire library included other stuff not purchased through iTunes.

Lately, it seems since I downloaded the latest version of iTunes, it has randomly been freezing. What happens is that while I'm listening to my music, iTunes will stop working. The song still appears to be playing (pause button is shown), but no music is playing, and click the pause/play button does nothing. I often have to ctrl alt del to close iTunes.
I've been noticing now that it seems to be correlated to my screensaver. Shortly after it comes on is when iTunes seems to be freezing up. My screensaver is simply a slideshow of all my digital photos. I have never had a problem with this before. Once in awhile too, my screensaver will be a text saying "An error prevented Slideshow from playing." Again, I have never had this problem before, and it seems to be happening since the installation of iTunes 9. In fact, this just happened a few minutes ago, and I can't even reopen iTunes... looks like a restart is my only option.
I'm running Windows Vista, iTunes version 9, and I have an HP Pavilion. Any suggestions?! HELP!

I turned on DJ just for giggles, and now I can't get it to turn off. I need help turning off iTunes DJ, as it is driving me nuts when I can't hear the vocals very well. Recover my iTunes library ...
My wife and I are new to iTunes and recently we've had the misfortune of having our hard drive crash. We were good about backing up our pictures, but not the iTunes we purchased. Between ourselves and our daughters, we have (3) shuffles and (1) ipod classic. Is there anyway for us to rebuild our library from one of the ipod's or to recover our purchased music any other way? iTunes duplicating songs on its own ...
I have come across at various times songs duplicated by iTunes. There will be dozens of albums with two identical tracks listed and they are all duplicated files. I click on them and throw away the duplicated tracks. They are all listed as being added on the same day as the original, and it is maddening that I will come across yet another group of songs which have been duplicated.
Why is this happening and is there a way to stop it?

CD burn error 4000 ...
I've have burned over 100 CDs with my Dell desktop over the last 3 years, but the other day i got a message 'CD disc unable to burn (error 400)'. I don't know what caused it to suddenly stop working.
Basically, I selected the play list and told it to burn a CD. I right clicked on Virtual CD icon in the task bar and on my virtual CDR I told it to create a 700MB disc and insert it. iTunes sees it and then it says "checking playlist" and then it as soon as that is done, it briefly says it's starting to burn the cd when it immediately switches to canceling cd burn and then shows a dialog with the following: The attempt to burn the disc failed. An unknown error occurred (4000).
I am ambivalent about methods of fixing this problem because i am fearful that i will lose my library which has over 3000 songs in it. Is there any safe solution to this problem? I am thankful for any help!

I am not sure how to seach this forum. I use Windows Vista and an itouch. After I download itunes my cd/dvd drives fails to operate. If I uninstall itunes it works again. I can download it without Safari and it works, however when I upgrade it will fail again.

Damaged ITunes Music File? ...
Hi everyone, hope someone can help me. I'm pretty dumb with computers and all this technical stuff so please bear with me. Today I went to open ITunes and I suddenly got a message saying it was attempting to import my ITunes library? Then it said this had failed and it said something about the xml file being damaged. Now all of my songs and playlists have gone (although some song files are still on my PC). I tried following some steps on the support section (dragging the music library file to desktop) but it wouldn't let me saying the file was damaged. I also had a look in the previous libararies folder but the most recent is April! I KNOW i have backed up since then. Feeling pretty pig sick about it. Is there anyway i can get my library and playlists back? I'm using ITunes 8.1.0.52, Windows XP and have a Toshiba Laptop. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. Since my first install, the CD/DVD drive is not recognizing audio cd's or blank cd's.
I am getting the warning message (which I have seen on several posts) "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes"

Continuous play not working for songs ...
I purchased a few albums via iTunes. When I changed computers and synced my iPod with the new computer I lost the continuous album play for the songs in these albums. If I play any song from any of these albums and when that song is completed play stops.
I do not have this problem with any copied/ripped CD music, just the music purchased from iTunes.
I did try setting the song option for continuous album play but to no avail.
Any ideas?

Hi there, Im new to this discussion site. Picking my way through the support system here has been a nightmare!! I'm hoping someone out there can help me please. ez vinyl converter2 version 5.0 ...
I have been using ez vinyl converter2 version 5.0 for about a year. I starting doing somemore converting vinyl to my computer and I am having and issue when it comes to "tag your track" I have been having to input the artist, album and track title. I click next and it starts to export to iTunes and it is taking longer and longer and when it goes to the iTunes listing it only shows "temp1" and when the exporting is done, which is taking up to 30-50 minutes it is showing that it is duplicated (there are 2 "temp1" showing). I change the info for all relevent info and it is okay except for the duplication. I have even had 1 album override another and several will be the same album but different artists. I have tried re-downloading the converter and it has not helped. Any suggestions??? I have Windows XP.

I'm traveling to Europe next week and I'm taking a netbook with me to use as a base for downloading pictures and videos and as a general USB charging station for my iPhone and other digital devices. I'd love to be able to install iTunes 9 on the netbook and bring over the library from my desktop so that I can listen to my music on my netbook while in Europe. Will Home Sharing allow this, or does it require having the the netbook currently on my home network in order to access songs that are on my desktop?

library dissapeared after move ...
I was running out of room on my hard drive so I got a second one to put my library on. I did everything just like apple says to move my library to my new "Media" folder on drive F: and it worked...yesterday. Now today it's all gone. I tried to find the iTunes Music Library.xml but I can't find it. I must have lost it in the move. Where might I find it? What can I do now? HELP!

I am running itunes 9 as of this week on a vista 64 machine. When a video preview has been chosen in the itunes store, the frame of the video appears in the itunes window (which i believe is a new feature) the sound from the preview starts but the video does not.

hi, with itunes 9 (and 8.2.1) I'm not getting any sound using surround track HDMI Vista to AV receiver; I was expecting Dolby Digital 5.1 pass thru'. Stereo HDMI works. (I'm trying it with an HD TV episode bought from itunes store).
In case it matters, the HDMI chipset is the Intel 4500MHD on an Acer Timeline 3810T.

New Smart Playlist Feature in iTunes 9 ...
I thought the new ellipsis feature would solve my problem, but I still haven't been able to find a way. Here's my problem: I wanted to make a sort of Pop/Hip-Hop/Dance playlist, but not include Michael Jackson/Jackson 5/The Jacksons. (I have those tagged as "Pop." So I have a list like the following:

iTunes Store Loading Problem ...
I recently downloaded iTunes 9 and iTunes 9.0.1 and have had this problem ever since. When I click the "iTunes Store" it takes a long time to load, then when its done loading, most of the screen is white with everything crammed over on the left side of the screen, making the page really long. Theres also a couple of ads for albums and things jumping all over the screen. I know this isnt what its supposed to look like. I have never had any problems with iTunes before version 9, so it probably isnt my computer.
Any help woud be GREATLY appreciated!

Cannot open the application "iTunes" ...
I have a new Vista computer. (this problem did not exist in XP)
I keep itunes open in my profile so that it can see the AppleTv. When my wife's profile becomes active itunes tries to open in her profile and we get a consistent popup error that windows cannot open itunes because another user has it open. the recommendation is to shut it down in the other profile (that is the suggestion i saw in another Support post as well). Probelm is that it needs to be open in the other profile for the ATV. Also - no matter how manytimes i try shutting down itunes in my wifes profile (via task manager and killing the service) the computer keeps attempting to run it.
Does anyone have suggestions of what I can do to fix this pls.

This is VERY frustrating. I have installed the MS Windows 7 x64 Enterprise Eval (Supposedly the gold copy for eval). I installed iTunes 9 using the 64 bit installer. I can get it to install correctly and play music, so no problems with iTunes as a music player, but try and sync with an iPhone and there are all sorts of problems.
I have done the following:
1) Installed/De-installed iTunes about a million times
2) Put my iPhone on a powered USB hub
3) Plugged my iPhone into a USB hub on my computer
I can get iTunes to recognize my iPhone, but I sometimes get a set of different errors.
Sometimes iTunes won't recognize the iPhone. When I unplug it, Windows tells me that it could not install the "MTP USB Drivers". Don't know why, but that is what it says.
I can plug it in again and iTunes will recognize it, but it says:
iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because of an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065).
If I put my phone in recovery mode, iTunes indicates that the phone needs recovery and starts the process. After a while, it comes up with the unknown error again.
Sometimes it says could not sync with iPhone "".....
I've manually de-installed the Apple drivers and reinstalled. That hasn't worked.
I've run the install and software in Compatability mode for Vista.
I am my wits end.
Anybody out there with ideas? Should I downgrade iTunes? It appears as though version 9 might have some issues.

when ever i try to download the new ipod software 3.1.2 that i paid for it keeps saying that the network timed out and that i should check my network settings or my isp provider.but everything seems to be fine.what else could i do?

Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 8.2 I've been having issues synching. It will copy photos, ringtones, etc, but at some point says that iTunes could not sync "Error 13019".

Searching resulted in nothing.
Now my playlists on the phone are wiped out, oddly enough the music is there, but it doesnt show up on the phone. If I connect it to iTunes, it shows the music and the playlists as being there.
I did a reinstall of iTunes and chose a restore from back up, neither has worked.
Anyone else run into this?

AppleTV Video TAB now missing from ...
I no longer have the Video "tab" in iTunes under my AppleTV device. Also, no recently purchased on AppleTV movies are showing up in iTunes.
My AppleTV is connected to the network and otherwise fine. I can stream content from iTunes (on an XP PC) to the AppleTV no problem, so they appear to have connectivity. Also have no problem using the "photos" tab...

An unknown error occurred (-50)" I've done many procedures to help my problem that ranges from Uninstalling iTunes and all it's components (which I deleted in the order which an apple article told me to), redownloading iTunes QuickTime (like 5 times), repaired quicktime (which works fine but not iTunes), restarted computer (which didn't help at all), created new user accounts (which have the same error), and done system restores (which was my last hope). I have never asked for help and this time I really need it, please anyone help me. Feel free to ask questions on anything related to this problem, I'll be more than happy to give any details that could help.

Maybe there is a simple way to fix, but I have all my songs on an external drive, and if my drive is unconnected or drops connection at any point, Itunes flips through my whole library and gives every song it tries to play that explanation mark, I've found no easy way to undo or fix this. I have to delete the whole library and re-import every song. If there is no fix to this, than apple needs to look into it. some kind of refresh button to find missing songs, or to force it to check the file's path again after fixing the connection to my drive because I can't go through and find thousands of songs one by one.

Setup default option for Column Browser ...
I can see where some folks may like the ITunes Column Browser on the left. For me that causes problems. I really need it to remain on the top. Looking for a way to setup that as the default configuration for all new playlists added, I struck out. Now for each new playlist I have to turn it on then go to the commands and reset to the Column Browser to the top. PLEASE Apple, at least give users the option to select default and let lovers of either style be happy. Right now I hope this will be included in the next release or patch. Unable to play any video or movies in ...
None of my video or movies appear to be working in iTunes anymore. Whenver I try to play any, iTunes does nothing (appears to pause for a fes secs then nothing). I am using iTunes 9.0.1.8 on a Windows Vista PC. I have also re-installed itunes, but to no avail. Whenever I try to play the videos in Quicktime diretly I get message:
"Error -2048: Couldn't open the file XYZ.m4v because it s not a file that QuickTime understands."
I did a google of the error message and found a few suggestions including re-encoding my videos....no thanks!!! The following Apple Support link came up: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2535
This basically said that I need to PAY for a Quicktime plugin.
Does anyone have a striaghtforward solution to this problem. Note that my videos also include downloads from the iTunes store.

Tracks with "0:00" ...
For some reason, iTunes thinks that a large amount of my tracks are 0:00 seconds long. Some entire albums are unable to play because of this. I used Foobar200 to fix the mp3 headers, as well as rebuild the mp3tags, but iTunes is still having problem reading these tracks. There are also tracks that are severely cut off, such as 5 minute songs now showing up as only 0:07.

Syncing ipod with 2 i tunes accounts ...
Newby here, set up an itunes accounts ages ago, forgot username and password so set up a second, put credit on, purchased some songs and tried to sync but would not let me as itunes recognised my ipod as different name, i.e library. Only thing I could do was delete all the songs I had on my ipod and load the new ones I purchased. So now in a position where I have 2 accounts with itunes one with all my old stuff on which I want to reload and the new one with only the few new purchases on my ipod. How do I go about getting the stuff from my first library onto my ipod. Also have the other problem that my credit balance is now on my new account. Hopefully I'm being dumb and there a simple answer Hope someone can help!

I bought about $16.00 worth of music off of iTunes via my iPod Touch. All the music was successfuly downloaded onto my iPod. Can't Play Songs/Podcasts ...
Help, please. Ican't play any of my songs or podcasts in iTunes. When I select a song and pess the "play" icon, the box where the title/time shows fills with many little horizontal dashes. First of all, I know I am not the first person to post about this nor will I be the last. However SOMETHING needs to be done about this ridiculous problem.
I was using iTunes 8.X prior and I upgraded to 9.0.1 a couple of days ago. Ever since then I have had nothing but headaches when attempting to get iTunes to work so I can work with my iPhone.
I followed previous instructions by other users on this forum. Here is the list of steps I took.
1. Uninstalling iTunes Quicktime completely. Reinstalling shortly therafter.
2. Ensuring no codecs were interfering (mpcstar, et cetera).
3. Cleaning the registry.
4. Cleaning the SC Info.sidb and SC Info.sidd files from \ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
5. Turning off different services or restarting them. This includes Bonjour, Apple Mobile Devices, iPod Service. There IS an interesting note about this later on.
6. Running 9.0.1 on a fresh install of Vista Home Premium on a notebook.
** No errors were ever given for this issue on either system inside of event viewer or when attempting to execute iTunes. The iTunes.exe will show as active in Processes at 13-15mb and does nothing. At times a smaller, and SECOND process of iTunes.exe will appear at 2-3mb then disappear after a few seconds.
All of this and it goes nowhere good.
Generally, after rebooting my computers iTunes will start once if at all. However this is not guaranteed. The fact that I have to restart constantly in order to have a small attempt at getting iTunes to execute correctly is absurd.
I noted in 5. that messing around with the services produced one interesting event. When I stop the Apple Mobile Devices service iTunes will load. Although when doing this it will of course NOT detect my iPhone. Even if I load iTunes and start or restart Apple Mobile Devices it of course will not see it.
As aforementioned I am not the only customer and user to have this issue. There is clearly a problem with 9.0.1 and many others will agree. It might not be happening to everyone (lucky for you lot) however it is nonetheless unfair that we who are experiencing difficulties are not seeing a resolution.
If anyone has ideas about what else could potentially be done to remedy this I would greatly appreciate your help. As I am sure others will also.

What are the options to use itunes with ...
I am totally confused; apple phone support seems to have no clue at least the person I spoke to. I want to get two iTunes accounts on one computer, one exists already. I am not sure what apple allows in this case. I was told at a apple store that if you create another PC profile you should be able to get the second iTunes account on the same computer with the new windows profile. There seems to be no info on the discussions board to this issue.
I do not want to share an account and have a second library I think it would be too confusing for the other person. Is this possible?

I am having a problem syncing my iPhone 3GS with iTunes on my laptop.
I've had the phone a few weeks and previously have never owned a iPod/used iTunes before buying it.
I am running iTunes version 9.0.1.8 on Windows Vista Home Premium (machine is a dual core Pentium T2310 with 2Gb RAM).
The phone software is version 3.1.
The phone works fine when not connected to the computer.
The problem I am having is when syncing the phone. The phone begins to sync but often stops halfway through.
When the phone begins to sync it normally syncs bookmarks, applications etc. fine but then stops when I try and upload music to it. It will very often copy a few tracks and then freeze completely. Very often none of the music will have successfully copied over.
I have tried copying artists individually by checking the albums one at a time (rather then automatically sync the entire content) however the problem persists.
I have successfully copied some tracks but have only managed to successfully copy a few artists.
When it fails to copy music, one of the following error messages appears:

moved library to an external and can't ...
I moved my library from my laptop by copying the whole itunes folder to my external and then choosing the library in the new location when opening Itunes. This seemed to work fine. So I tried ripping a cd and found that the resulting files didn't go to the new external, but back to the C drive (old location). I then changed the import music location (under edit/preferences/advanced) to the new external location and then consolidated to it. I then deleted my original files on my C drive. Now, any song I select to play can not be located and requires manual location. I have about 40,000 songs and I'm starting to freak out. I really don't want to lose my playcounts, lists, and ratings.
Any help would be wonderful!

I have some problems with the new HomeSharing feature on iTunes 9. I hooked up my computer and another in my home to HomeSharing. Via a wireless network, I was able to access the other library on my computer. However, when I tried to access my library on the other computer, a pop-up came up with an error. iTunes 9 deleting apps off iPhone ...
I've had my iTunes music folder on an external drive for ages and iTunes is usually intelligent enough to leave the contents of my iPod and iPhone alone if I sync when my external drive is not available. However I just updated to the iTunes 9 folder structure which, as I understand it, means apps are now stored in the media folder on the external drive rather than in the library folder on the local drive.
The trouble is when I sync my phone and the external drive is not connected, iTunes deletes all the apps off my phone! How do I stop this happening?

The shopping cart v8 and previous allowed users to play that 30 second sample to confirm whether a selection made earlier really stood up in comparison to other tracks in the shopping cart. With the wishlist I can get fewer than a third of tracks to preview. This issue is a serious issue for heavy users of the store. i will take my purchasing elsewhere until the funtionality of version 8 is restored.

Hi,
I would like to delete the cache file for the cover art for 1 album. Every album has cover art, except one. It did have the correct album art, until somehow it has become corrupted, so none shows in the "Get Info" box and adding art has no effect. I have tried removing the album and adding it again, but the same problem returns, even if the name of the album is changed. I have tried searching through the cache for a recently modified file, but it doesn't show up when I have made the recent changes.
Am I going to have to keep deleting random cache files until I become lucky and delete the correct one?

I just updated Itunes on my Windows Vista. Now when I play a video, it opens and plays in the same window. Now the problem is that when I try to open the video in a new window by right clicking on the video and selecting "open in new window" option, I am just not able to see the video in the new window(although it keeps on playing in the background). I am not able to see it. please can anyone tell me what is the problem?

o.k. i can connect to the itunes store fine. i can purchase music (and get billed) fine. but the album is stuck in limbo and will not download. each time i try to download it from the download folder or the support or account page, i get the message in my header "iTunes store is temporarily unavailable. please try again later" why is this happening? any ideas. i even tried a different computer and ran into the same error. i am a regular user of itunes and purchased an album a couple of days before with no problem. i use a new iMac with leopard and my itunes is up to date.

"The iTunes Library file cannot be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
As far as I can tell looking at the security settings for the folder where the iTunes library is saved, I DO have full access privileges. In fact, the last modified date for the iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Music Library.xml files is just a few minutes ago.
Also, I don't notice anything going wrong within iTunes, just these periodic, annoying errors. I could just check the "don't show this error again" box but I'd rather fix whatever is wrong.
Anyone have any clue what is going on here?

iTunes reopens after I close it ...
Within the past several months (at least three), every other time I attempt to close iTunes, it shuts down without problem and then immediately restarts itself without prompting. The cycle takes place three or four times before it finally actually closes.
This problem occurred with 8 and 9. I was hoping that 9 would fix the problem, but it does not. No settings on my computer or in iTunes itself have been changed. Can anyone tell me why it keeps doing this? It's VERY annoying.

AAC and AIFF file not play ...

I installed both Quicktime Pro 7.6.4 and iTunes 9.0.1.8 on XP Pro SP3.
Now, though, with Windows Explorer, I click on an mp3 or wav file, iTunes is activated and these files are played correctly. While, when I click on an AAC or AIFF file, iTunes is activated , but I do not see these files from anywhere and they are not even played. Why?

Windows laptop with iTunes 9 Airport ...
Hi,
I have a Vista laptop connected to the LAN and the Internet using a Dlink DIR-655 wireless router.
Now, I'd like to use Apple's Airport to play my iTunes music on my amplifier.
My question is: how do I set this up? Do I need to configure the Airport to use the Dlink router?
Or will my laptop just send the music wireless and directly to the Airport, seperate from my existing WLAN connection with the Dlink?

Authorizing songs to play ...
In the past I had bought songs from iTunes using my high school e-mail address as my account. Since then I have graduated and that e-mail account doesn't exist anymore. I also bought a new laptop and had my old iTunes transferred from my old laptop to the new one. Now I am not able to listen to any of the songs that I purchased with the old e-mail account on my new laptop. Please let me know how I fix this problem. Thanks!

Hi there. This is the first time I have used any sort of forum so I hope someone can help me.

Maybe there is a simple way to fix, but I have all my songs on an external drive, and if my drive is unconnected or drops connection at any point, Itunes flips through my whole library and gives every song it tries to play that explanation mark, I've found no easy way to undo or fix this. I have to delete the whole library and re-import every song. If there is no fix to this, than apple needs to look into it. some kind of refresh button to find missing songs, or to force it to check the file's path again after fixing the connection to my drive because I can't go through and find thousands of songs one by one.

My digital copy movies won't play in ...
I have purchased two digital copy movies, 1 blu-ray and 1 normal dvd. i put them in my PC and followed the directions to load them into itunes and entered their codes. now all i get is a gray screen and it appears like the movie is running with time and titles yet no picture. what can i do to fix this?

Album artwork appears black ...
I am importing music that I ripped and I am trying to add the artwork via the "Get Info" dialogue, but no matter what format the artwork is in it always appears all black. I have tried deleting the artwork and trying from scratch but it always appears as all black. What is going on?

My Itunes playlists ...
First off, sorry if this is in the wrong section. Ok so, our computer was recently taken in to get rid of a virus. When we got it back, we had no Itunes. So I downloaded it again and it added all of the songs I had before, but not the playlists. I searched on our computer, I searched our backed up files, I searched everything and I could not find our playists. All I could find was some real old playlists from years ago that were deleted. Thanks for the help!!

iPhone remote only works once after ...
I'm having an issue where I'm only able to use the Remote app for one session after opening iTunes. If I put my phone to sleep or close out the Remote app and try to open it again it says "Could not find Library". I have to close iTunes and re-open then it (iPhone) can find it again.
What can I do?

I've found at least one other topic here regarding this issue, but Apple has yet to address it, or even confirm that it's in fact an issue.
A big portion of my library consists of international artists, many who have special/nonstandard characters in their names (e.g. "Ti?sto"). In previous versions of iTunes, I could search for "Tiesto" (note the absence of the umlaut over the 'e') and all of those tracks would appear. However, after upgrading to iTunes 9, I'm forced to search for "Ti?sto" in order to view those tracks.
Thinking about this issue, it would seem that this is normal behavior, as an artist named "P
