Seller not accepting Paypal???
I clicked "buy it now" for an item. I went to pay immediately and the page took me to a Propay website. My antivirus, etc. software displayed a pop up that said the security certificate on the site is no good. I went to the Paypal website and tried to pay that way it Paypal stated that the seller is not receiving Paypal funds. I thought that ebay sellers had to accept Paypal...it wasn't optional. No where in the auction does it state that Paypal is not accepted and I haven't ever had this issue with over 100 purchases in the past. I don't feel like my credit card information is safe on Propay since the security certificate has issues. What should I do?|||Basically, Ebay say Electronic payment or buyer can bring up a mailed payment. Link For most categories, sellers need to offer one or more of the following electronic payment choices: *PayPal * ProPay * Moneybookers *Paymate *Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account Additionally, payment upon pickup and Bill Me Later are valid payment methods as well.|||Propay is a Ebay accepted payment processing service. Link Accepted Payments Policy Our Accepted Payments policy helps ensure that buyers and sellers on eBay are offered safe, convenient payment options. For most categories, sellers need to offer one or more of the following electronic payment choices: * PayPal * ProPay * Moneybookers * Paymate * Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account Additionally, payment upon pickup and Bill Me Later are valid payment methods as well.|||Thanks for the link. Now that I realize sellers do not have to accept Paypal, what about the Propay site's security certificate not being safe?|||Yeah, I see that now. ( I personally went to Propay with my browser) "This Connection is Untrusted" I got that warning a couple a months ago on my listing service. They were temporarily compromised. It took about 24 hrs to fix. I recommend contacting the seller. Advise him/her of same and discuss optional payment methods until that is resolved.|||dixie7972 Did you click the Payments tab on the auction listing? What does it show? IF it shows/displays the Paypal logo, your seller is REQUIRED to accept Paypal. Unless I am missing an auction listing in your bid history, all the auctions show / display a Paypal logo. Sellers must show in the payments area what method of payment they accept. If your listing shows the Paypal logo, yet when you go to pay the Propay comes up, the seller is not following the rules here Selling Practices policy or the Paypal acceptance policy. As stated, Propay is one of Ebay's accepted payment methods, but if the seller no longer accepts Paypal, they need to remove the Paypal logo from the auctions.|||"No where in the auction does it state that Paypal is not accepted and I haven't ever had this issue with over 100 purchases in the past." You ahould always click and double check the Payment & Shipping tab . If the auction shows the Paypal logo, then the seller is required to accept Paypal. Look here at Terms & ConditionsLink Paypal acceptance Policy Link "Important: If you offer PayPal as a payment option on eBay (either using logos or text in the item description) you must accept all forms of PayPal payment including account balance, bank account transfer, and credit cards. You must have a Premier or Business PayPal account - or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal account to a Premier or Business account - if you receive a credit card payment. You may not communicate to eBay buyers that you will only accept specific forms of PayPal payment (see PayPal Payments Policy)."|||320517633337 I imagine it's this item no paypal log and states propay"This must be Thursday, said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer, I never could get the hang of Thursdays."|||paypal logo not log"This must be Thursday, said Arthur to himself, sinking low over his beer, I never could get the hang of Thursdays."|||If that is the auction in question, it does NOT display the Paypal logo and the seller is not required to accept Paypal. That auction clearly shows Propay. That is why, it is really important to click the Payment & Shipping tab on each auction before bidding.|||Sometimes you can get the site certificate expired warning when your computer's clock is set wrong.
